MSc and Phd Scholarships
Scholarships
The number of scholarships provided by PPGBBE varies with each selection. These scholarships are granted by funding agencies and, therefore, the quantity depends on the Brazilian policy and financial resources for those agencies.
Scholarship assignments for active graduate BBE students follow their rank in the selective process upon admission. Thus, for example, if there are five scholarships available, only for the first five higher scores will be granted scholarships. The other candidates may enroll in the course without scholarship.
Mentors may have scholarships from their own research projects, in which case the granting will be at the mentor’s discretion, as long as the student is approved in the selection process.
Foreign students will be able to apply for PPGBBE scholarships based on their ranking in the selection. However, CAPES (PhD) and CNPq (MSc) have issued annual calls for scholarships for foreign postgraduate students to join in Brazilian graduate programs from eligible countries. Students from these countries are encouraged to submit their applications via PPGBBE.
The prospective candidate should contact the future advisor and discuss the subject and deadlines for their research project. To submit the proposal, the student must submit the project with the endorsement of the PPGBBE advisor. The required documentation is available on the CAPES and CNPq webpages.
Post-Doctorate Scholarships
PPGBBE has scholarship of the National Post-doctoral Program (PNPD). Applications start in July of each year and the scholarship lasts 12 months. The granted student may apply for renewal for a further 12 months, but must participate in the selection process along with the other candidates for the scholarship. The maximum duration of cumulative scholarships is five years. PhD BBE alumni will have priority in the selective process.
