How to be a faculty member of BBE
PPGBBE is interested in new members for our Faculty. Prospective faculty members must submit a proposal to the Graduate Commission during the application period for new prospective students.
Eligible candidates for BBE faculty must meet the following criteria:
- Include a research proposal in one of the PPGBBE's research lines.
- Have at least one student (masters or doctorate) approved in the selection process.
- Propose a course (with duration, program and bibliography) to be offered annually to PPGBBE students.
- Not belong to another Graduate Program.
- Have at least 600 points * in scientific production in the previous four years (2015-2018 or 2016-2019) (of those at least 50% of the points must be as first/senior author).
Eligibility Process for Faculty
The (re)eligibility certificate application is necessary for all faculty members at the end of a four year period of CAPES’ evaluation. The last process took place in December 2016 for the 2017-2020 period and the next will be held at the end of 2020 that will be valid for the 2021-2024 period.
That process required that the faculty member:
- Had at least one student enrolled in PPGBBE in the last four years
- Had taught at least two courses in the last four years
- Had earned at least 350 points * in articles published in the previous four years (of those at least 50% of the points must be as first/senior author)
Scientific production score*
The scoring of scientific production relates to the QUALIS CAPES stratum of the scientific journal, as given below.
A1 = 100.0 points
A2 = 87.5 points
A3 = 75.0 points
A4 = 62.5 points
B1 = 50.0 points
B2 = 37.5 points
B3 = 25.0 points
B4 = 12.5 points
