PPGBBE faculty are internationally active, being editors of various journals and involved in various research projects and international networks. Some examples are given below:
- Member of the Reference Committee, International Cosmos Committee.
- Founding member of the Scientific Committee, Latin American Network of Conservation Genetics (REGENEC).
- Member of the editorial board of Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society and Marine Ecology Progress Series journals.
- Member of the editorial board of BMC Genomics journal.
- Member of the editorial board of Rodriguesia journal.
- Member of the editorial board of Molecular Biology and Evolution journal.
- Collaborator on ARTS project: Litter Bugs: revisionary and phylogenetic research on the least studied true bug infraorder (Insecta: Hemiptera: Dipsocoromorpha) coordinated by Dr. Christiane Weirauch of the University of California funded by the National Science Foundation, USA (2017-2018).
- Collaborator on the Assembling the Tree of Life Project: Phylogenomics and Morphology of the Hemipteroid Insect Orders, coordinated by Kevin P. Johnson and funded by the National Science Foundation, USA. (2017-2018).
- Member of the editorial board of the Journal of Insect Science and the Brazilian Journal of Entomology.
- Member of the editorial board of Geology journal and Brazilian Journal of Geology.
- Member of the editorial board of the National Museum Archives.
- Coordinator of the International Cooperation Project celebrated between FAPERJ and CONICET, coordinators José Ricardo Miras Mermudes and Analia Lanteri of the Museo de La Plata in Argentina.
- Member of the editorial board of journals Zoology and Biota Neotropica, and National Museum Bulletin: Zoology and National Museum Archives.
- Member of the editorial board of National Museum Archives.
- Member of the editorial board of journals Zootaxa and Brazilian Society of Mastozoology Bulletin.
- Brazilian Coordinator of the Franco-Brazilian Associated International Laboratory (LIA) “MARRIO” (Biodiversity Patterns and Marine Chemiodiversity from MARtinica to RIO de Janeiro: sponges as a study model) – 2013-2020.
- Member of the editorial board of Marine Biodiversity and Zootaxa journals. Calcarea (Porifera) Editor of the World Porifera Database of WoRMS (World Register of Marine Species) since 2013.
- Coordinator of the TAMU-CAPES International Cooperation Project with Texas A&M University at Galveston (2016-2017).
- Member of a project to develop a Spanish Seaweed Bank.
